How to Prevent Dark Underarms – Simple Remedies

When it comes to your skin, anything dark seems to be annoying. This holds true for your underarms too. You might find it embarrassing to wear sleeveless tops and blouses, if you have dark underarms. There could be a number of reasons which cause your armpits to turn dark, like shaving, use of hair removing creams, too much of sweat, dead skin deposits, excessive use of antiperspirants and deodorants, obesity, hormonal disorders etc.

However, there is a way out for this issue. You can easily lighten your dark underarms with some natural remedies. Here are some of easy home remedies which can help you to get rid of your dark armpits.

Remedies to Lighten and Prevent Dark Underarms

Potato

You would be amazed to know that potato is mildly acidic and can be used as bleach.  Rubbing a slice of potato on your underarms can help you reduce the darkness. You can also extract the juice of the potato and apply this to your armpits. Wash this off using lukewarm water after it has dried.

Cucumber

Cucumber also has bleaching properties, which is why this can be used to lighten dark underarms. Mix cucumber juice with some turmeric powder and lemon juice to make a paste. Apply this to your darkened underarms. After 30 minutes, clean your underarms with water. Following this at least 3 times in a week will help you to get rid of dark armpits.

Lemon

Other than possessing the characteristics of natural bleach, lemon is also an antiseptic and checks bacterial growth. Using lemon on any dark surface of your skin will help you to lighten it. This holds true for your underarms too. Take a piece of lemon and rub this to your armpits for some minutes. Leave this for 10 minutes and then wash the underarms with water. Make sure that you apply some moisturizer after this as lemon tends to dry the skin.

Baking Soda

One of the main reasons of dark underarms is the accumulation of dead skin. Using baking soda as an exfoliator can help you get rid of the dead skin and lighten the underarms in the bargain. Make a thick paste by mixing baking soda with water. Use this as a scrub and massage it into your armpits with firm circular motion of your palms. After some time, wash your underarms with water.

Orange Peel

The peel of an orange has some amazing properties which help in lightening the skin. Powder some dried orange peels. Mix this powder with rose water to make a paste. Use this paste to scrub your underarms. Let the paste remain on the skin for about 15 minutes and then wash it with cold water.

Milk

Milk contains fatty acids and vitamins which can reduce the darkness of your underarms. Make a thick paste by mixing two spoons of milk, one spoon curd and one spoon plain flour. Apply this paste to your underarms and let it dry. Then wash your armpits with cold water.

Sandalwood

With its skin lightening characteristics, Sandalwood can easily help you to get rid of dark underarms. Take two spoons of sandalwood powder and mix it with rose water to make a thick paste. Apply this to your underarms. After 15 minutes, wash it off with cold water.

Coconut Oil

Since coconut oil is a rich source of Vitamin E, applying this to your underarms regularly will lighten them. Take some coconut oil and use it to massage your armpits. After some time, use a mild soap to wash your underarms.

You can also lighten the dark skin of your underarms with vinegar, gram flour, olive oil etc. Wear clothes made of natural fabrics as this will ensure proper ventilation to armpits. However, if the problem persists, you might want to consult a dermatologist.
