1. Potato

Why It Works: Potatoes contain natural bleaching agents that can help lighten dark spots and pigmentation.

How to Use:

  • Slice a potato and rub it directly on the pigmented areas in circular motions.
  • Leave the potato juice on your skin for 15-20 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water.
  • Repeat daily for best results.

2. Papaya

Why It Works: Papaya contains enzymes like papain that help to exfoliate the skin, reduce pigmentation, and promote a brighter complexion.

How to Use:

  • Mash a ripe papaya and apply it to the pigmented areas.
  • Leave it on for 20-30 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water.
  • Use this remedy 2-3 times a week.

3. Almond & Milk

Dryness of the skin can also cause pigmentation. Rich in natural fatty acids, almonds help in moisturising the skin, thereby reducing skin pigmentation. Coupled with milk which has skin whitening properties, this can work wonders for your skin. For this remedy, you need to soak the almonds for 10-12 hours. Then remove the skin of the almonds and grind it into a smooth paste with the milk. Apply this on the affected areas and wash off after 20 to 30 minutes. Regular application of this remedy would reduce the dark spots and makes your skin look radiant.

4. Avocado

This is not only a delicious fruit but also has some great healing properties. Rich in oleic acid, fatty acids and Vitamin C, avocado paste can be used to reduce pigmentation of the skin. Mash the avocado and apply it to the skin, washing it off after 20 minutes. You can also squeeze out its juice and apply this to your skin. However, it would be a good idea to test it on a patch of your skin as some people tend to be allergic to a certain enzyme present in Avocado.

5. Lemon & Honey

Why It Works: Lemon juice is rich in vitamin C, which is known for its skin-brightening properties. It helps to lighten dark spots and even out skin tone.

How to Use:

  • Squeeze fresh lemon juice and apply it directly to the affected areas with a cotton ball.
  • Leave it on for 10-15 minutes, then rinse off with lukewarm water.
  • Use this remedy 2-3 times a week, but be cautious if you have sensitive skin.

6. Turmeric

Why It Works: Turmeric has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that help to lighten pigmentation and improve skin tone.

How to Use:

  • Mix 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder with enough honey or yogurt to form a paste.
  • Apply the paste to the pigmented areas and leave it on for 15-20 minutes.
  • Rinse off with lukewarm water.
